Morrowind - Part 6

Our bold adventurer has become a feared soldier of the Imperial Legion. Stationed at the mining town of Gnisis, Seodoth completed his first mission with great success. A local had been murdered in the Eggmine and no one knew who did it. Braving the treacherous egg cavern itself, our hero discovered the truth. The miner was killed by a fellow legionnaire. Seodoth confronted the traitor and brought justice upon him. But now an ever greater problem rose forth as he learned that the eggmine itself was polluted with blight. Our young hero ventured deeper into the dark tunnels and sought out the blight's source: the kwama Queen. The eggmine had to be cleansed if the town of Gnisis was meant to survive.

Morrowind - Part 5

After one successful murder in Pelagiad and one unsuccessful attempt in Gnaar Mok, Seodoth travelled to the eggmine town of Gnisis. There he applied at Fort Darius to the Imperial Legion. The land of Morrowind was a dangerous place and if he wished to overcome the challenges up ahead, he was in dire need of training. But Seodoth soon discovered being in the army had down sides as well. A soldier had to follow his superior's command, even if these orders were questionable or down right wrong.

Prejudice

There is this guy in my Political Science class. He's the most straight assed student I've ever seen. Freshly cut hair, expensive glasses, white collar, polo, bow tie (omg), gentlemen shoes and armani pants with extreme large gentleman buckle and belt. Of course if I studied Economics or Law and Legal studies, my class would be nothing but these stiff rich kids with no other ambition than to get even richer. The problem I have with him is the cloths he wears. He might look only 19 or even 20, but he's wearing the cloths of someone in the 40's and some one already WORKING. Why don't you look like a student, boy?! Why look like an old man, forced to work the 40 hour week in the fucking boring suit every single day. Why bereft yourself of the freedom to wear the cloths you want. It feels to me like a dagger through my heart. You should treasure the time you have as a student and explore freely any passion you want. Not lock yourself up in those etiquette cloths. If you wear these kind of cloths it feels to me like you only see your time on the University as a delay, something to be quickly dealt with, only as a formal educational introduction to the grey rigid rule bound boring office job.

A lot of times I imagined myself approaching this guy and asking him what in the hell was on his mind to dress the way he did. The problem I have with the cloths, is that they feel enforced on the people that wear them. Everyone in the straight assed business, wear these kind of cloths, not because they WANT to, but because everyone else wears them. If a youngster wears these kind of clothes, my prejudice is to think they are easily influenced, have no backbone to wear the things they want, or want to belong too much with people they think are cool.

Today I got a major slap in the face, reminding myself of the blind prejudice I sometimes have. When the guy entered the class and took place a couple of seats in front of me, he opened up his laptop computer. I couldn't believe what I saw! On his desktop there was a beautiful wallpaper of the Legend of Zelda, more even: the new up coming title Skyward Sword. All my shitty ideas about him were shattered. There may be people who dress like him and have small passions for games but they do not blatantly show this around like he did. The people I identified him with, still look down on videogames, and especially a game that looks like its made for kids, like the Legend of Zelda. This guy felt no shame (and rightly so!) in expressing his passion, most people would frown upon. He was in no way a person with a weak backbone. Even more, he shows two opposite sides at the same time, and just deals with it. I was taught once again, that prejudice is a really bad thing and I had to look beyond the image I told myself so fiercely to believe.

Morrowind - Part 4

Trying to find his way back to the city of Balmora, our hero had to fight his way through bug infested wastelands and swim across piranha filled lakes. With only a scratch Seodoth escaped the wilderness of Morrowind and found save haven in the fortress town of Pelagiad. There he rested for a while and befriended many townsfolk with his likeable personality. He sold some of his findings, repaired his equipment, and bought a bow and a new sword. Now fully rejuvenated and restocked, he opened his map and set out the path for another journey...

Morrowind - Part 3

After an identity crisis and fear for his unknown destiny, our hero Seodoth fled the city of Balmora. In the midst of the night he roamed the rocky wastes, in search for some solitude. Finally exhausted of the meaningless running, he collapsed on a soft looking hill and closed his eyes.

Morrowind - Part 2

I am about to leave this swamp town behind me and head into the wilds! My destination is the city of Balmora, and I am told I can use a giant bug as a transport to get there. I've just sold all my nicked stuff from the guards' quarters, bought some armour pieces and a two short swords, only to realise I probably can't dual wield :(

The Elder Scrolls III - Morrowind

Proclaimed, by a friend of mine, the best game ever. Although he told me he hated the game at first and even sold it to his little brother, only afterwards he saw through the grey mess which is Morrowind, and looked at the beauty within.
I never played Morrowind. I was cursed to grow up with Mr. Jobs' creations (recently elected most influential person for the gaming industry, lol) , so I missed out a lot of great games in my youth. Some games were ported to Macintosh, like Baldur's Gate, and even if Morrowind would be amongst them, it was rare to stumble unto these ports.

With the fifth instalment Skyrim being only a couple of days away from release, and the encouraging words of my buddy, I plunged into the world of Morrowind, too see what these Elder Scrolls game are all about.
